[NB NOT the last Thursday of the month!]

Steve Green, module leader of “Classics on Screen” and co-editor of a forthcoming volume on Ray Harryhausen and the classics (based on papers given at the Animating Antiquity conference, National Media Museum, Bradford, November 2011) contributes a second talk to the series.

This time, he focuses on animals in the arena, then and now, asking what rights animals had in ancient Rome and to what extent these are compatible with modern sensibilities when it comes to depicting ancient games in modern films.
